The Service

Gutter Cleaning

Clogged gutters are not just a nuisance. Water that cannot get to a downspout goes over the edge, down the siding and into the fascia and foundation, which turns a cheap maintenance job into an expensive repair.

We clear the troughs by hand, bag the debris and take it with us, then flush every downspout to confirm water is actually moving through rather than backing up at an elbow.

The other half of the job is the outside. Those vertical black streaks on the face of your gutters are oxidation and road film, and they do not come off with plain water. We brighten the exteriors so the gutters match the rest of the trim again.

The mature hardwoods that make Winchester’s older neighborhoods worth living in also bury their gutters every fall. We clear the interiors, flush the downspouts and brighten the exterior faces so the whole run works and looks right heading into winter.

How It Works

Four steps, no surprises

Clear the troughs

Leaves, grit and shingle debris come out by hand, into a bag, not onto your lawn.

Flush the downspouts

Each downspout gets water run through it until we see it discharging properly at the bottom.

Brighten the exteriors

The face of the gutters gets treated to pull the black oxidation streaking off.

Report and clean up

We tell you about anything we found, then rinse down and clear the work area.

Common Questions

Good to know

  • How often should gutters be cleaned?

Twice a year is right for most homes here, once after the leaves finish dropping and once in spring. If you are under heavy tree cover you may want a third visit.

  • What are the black stripes on the front of my gutters?

That is oxidation mixed with road film and roof runoff, and it bonds to the finish. Plain water and pressure will not touch it. It needs a brightening treatment, which we include.

  • Do you clean gutter guards?

Yes, though it depends on the type. Some guards lift off easily and go back on. Others are fastened under the shingles and can only be cleaned from the top. We will tell you what yours allow.

  • Will you tell me if something is wrong up there?

Always. If we see separated seams, loose hangers, rotted fascia or a downspout that will not clear, you hear about it, whether or not it is something we handle.

  • Where is your Winchester office?

9 N Loudoun St, Suite 300Y in Old Town Winchester. Jobs across Winchester and Frederick County run through that office, so you are working with a local crew.
